What’s the Bullseye all about?

For the final project for the corporate public relations course I’m enrolled in, I have to analyze a Fortune 500 company from a public relations perspective.

I spend a lot of time and money at Target, so I only found it fitting that I research the way its public relations department operates. This initial post is a basic overview of the company itself.

Target, which was established in 1962, is a department-style store that offers women’s clothing, home decor, groceries, office supplies and much more. It’s known for its “Expect More, Pay Less” slogan and has stores in 49 states. The company is a strong advocate for giving back to the communities surrounding its stores, donating more than $3 million per week to programs such as Take Charge of Education.

Target‘s mission is to provide its customers with unique products and a one-of-a-kind shopping experience that is fun and convenient. It is ranked number 38 on the 2012 Fortune 500 list.
