Podcasts are quickly becoming one of the fastest and easiest ways to share information. Many fields, including public relations, have adopted podcasts to help professionals speak to their colleagues and improve the over-all success of the industries. As a public relations students, I have listened to several podcasts over the past few years. Below is a list of benefits you as a public relations student can and will receive when you listen to podcasts:
Podcasts help you identify industry professionals. Once you know who they are, you can connect with them. You never know. Maybe they’ll be your employer one day.
There is so much to learn about public relations and the many duties public relations professionals have to fulfill on a day-to-day basis. Soak up as much knowledge as you can before entering the workplace. Nothing that you learn will ever go to waste. Prepare yourself for every possible scenario.
You may have colleagues or classmates that have been struggling with a particular public relations-related issue. If you hear a podcast on that topic, you can share it with them and then they’ll receive the benefits you’re also experiencing.
There will be several times throughout your time as a public relations student when you will be surrounded by public relations professionals. They’re going to be talking about industry trends and crises. Again, podcasts will help you learn more about the field, so when these times come, you’ll be able to jump into the conversation. Not only will you be able to jump in, but you’ll have something meaningful and intelligible to say.

You may listen to a podcast on a public relations-related topic that you want to find out more about. This can give you fuel for future blog posts, term papers, presentations or even podcasts of your own.
